My Summer Internship Experience at Cisco’s Bangalore Campus
As a computer science major, I had always heard about Cisco, the multinational technology company known for its cutting-edge networking and communication technologies. So, when I got the opportunity to intern at Cisco’s Bangalore campus in the Distributed Computing and Networking Department, I was thrilled.
The first thing that struck me about the campus was its sheer size. It’s the largest Cisco campus in India and has an amazing infrastructure that includes multiple buildings, well-manicured lawns, and outdoor sports facilities. As a new intern, I felt welcomed and inspired by the campus’s serene and relaxed atmosphere. As soon as I walked in, I was met by a member of the Emerging Team Recruiting Department, who guided me and the other summer interns throughout the Cisco campus and helped us set up. We even had a round of Ice breaking games in order to break the tension and relax into the new environment.
At the Distributed Computing and Networking Department, I was introduced to my team and given a brief on my role and responsibilities as a summer intern. My team consisted of experienced professionals who were always willing to help and guide me whenever I needed their assistance. They explained the various projects that they were working on and the part I would play in those projects. My manager, George Thomas was highly welcoming and enthusiastic about my joining and made me feel right at home.
As a summer intern, I was tasked with helping to develop and test a new networking protocol. I was nervous at first, but my team was always there to guide me and provide feedback on my work. I had the opportunity to work with the latest tools and technologies and learned new skills that would prove to be useful in my future endeavours.
Apart from work, I had the opportunity to explore Bangalore, the bustling city known as the Silicon Valley of India. I was impressed by the city’s diversity, rich culture, and friendly people. During the weekends, I visited the famous Lalbagh Botanical Garden, the Bangalore Palace, and the Bannerghatta National Park, where I had the chance to interact with the wildlife and experience nature at its best.
Finally, I must mention the office amenities and facilities, which were impressive. The campus has multiple gaming rooms, outdoor basketball courts, and an amazing cafeteria with a wide range of delicious food options. I made new friends during my lunch break and networked with other interns and professionals in the campus’s relaxed atmosphere.
In conclusion, my summer internship at Cisco’s Bangalore campus was an amazing experience that I will cherish forever. It not only helped me develop new skills and gain valuable experience in my field but also allowed me to explore a new city and make new friends. I am grateful for the opportunity and highly recommend it to anyone looking to gain experience in networking and computing technologies.
